Hillcrest Neighborhood Association Board Meeting Minutes
January 10, 2018 6pm @ Wayne & Larry's - Hillcrest Shopping Center
Present: Sean Williams, Betsy Evans, Donna Butler, and Greg Huebner
PLANNING FOR FEB. HNA MEETING:
The board met primarily to discuss the yearly neighborhood meeting on Feb 20, 2018. At this meeting board members whose terms are expiring will need to be reelected or new persons elected in their place. Nominations are welcome from the floor. Positions expiring are the President, Recording Secretary and Operations Secretary. Other agenda items: a yearly treasurer's report and topics/questions raised by neighbors in attendance. Betsy will ask Allen Weichert if he can report anything on the Oregon Trail project.
The meeting will be held in the MERC classroom. No food is allowed unless it is purchased from the MERC. Time: 6:30pm social hour; 7:00pm start business meeting.
OTHER OLD AND NEW BUSINESS:
Sean passed around copies of a 2017 realtor's report showing house sales/prices that indicated homes in the Hillcrest school district.
Betsy reported that nine people showed up for Christmas caroling in the neighborhood. Also, Christmas ornaments gradually appeared on at least one side of the water tower tree. We left unresolved on what to do now that the Christmas season is over. Wait for owners to retrieve them? Store them for next year?
Betsy reported that the city has not yet stabilized the HNA welcome rock. During the meeting Sean wrote a letter to the city official in charge asking for attention to this matter and inviting him to attend the February meeting.
Discussed Spring Cleanup in the latter half of April. Betsy reminded the group that we had discussed putting paving stones around the muddy area in front of the book box. Sean said he had bricks that could be used. Placing them could be part of the next spring clean up project.
Betsy reported that she has collected enough money to pay for the memorial tree for Missy H., but she is $70 short for the accompanying plaque. She asked if the board would like to make a contribution. The board agreed to a $25 gift.
Betsy reported that there may have been a window-peeking incident recently on Highland and that people should be careful to lock their houses and cars. Ours is generally a safe neighborhood but it is not entirely crime free.
Whether or not to have another Board meeting before Feb 20 was left unresolved.
Meeting adjourned about 7:25pm.
